Impact of KVK

Key Impacts of KVKs on Agricultural Communities:

  • Technology Dissemination: KVKs conduct On-Farm Trials (OFT) and Frontline Demonstrations (FLD) to showcase new, high-yield crop varieties, pest management techniques, and efficient machinery, leading to faster adoption of modern technology.
  • Increased Productivity & Income: Studies indicate substantial yield increases—such as 20.45% in groundnut and 54.60% in turmeric—leading to higher economic returns for farmers.
  • Capacity Building & Training: KVKs provide vocational training to farmers and rural youth, improving their skill set in poultry, dairy, mushroom cultivation, and organic farming.
  • Seed & Planting Material Production: KVKs directly produce and distribute high-quality seeds, planting materials, and bio-products, ensuring farmers have access to quality inputs.
  • Employment Generation: KVK activities have increased average family employment from 176 to 274 man-days per year, strengthening local livelihoods.
  • Empowerment of Women: Women farmers are trained in nutrition, food processing, and handicrafts, fostering entrepreneurship and enhancing their socioeconomic status.
  • Socio-economic Improvement: A meta-analysis concluded that KVK beneficiaries are significantly more likely to have higher income levels, improved knowledge, and better socioeconomic status compared to non-beneficiaries.
